A Fulton County, Ohio man, Lawrence Hilton, was riding his motorcycle when he was hit and killed by a car on August 30, 2013.

The Hilton family filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against the doctor who hit him, a University of Toledo Medical Center physician, Nabil Ebraheim, M.D. The complaint was filed in the Lucas County, Ohio Common Pleas Court. The family alleges that Dr. Ebraheim negligently failed to yield the right of way to Mr. Hilton. The accident caused Mr. Hilton severe pain while he was alive and eventual death. They also claim that the doctor had a duty to attempt to rescue Mr. Hilton after the accident, but did not. The family is seeking $5 million in punitive damages and at least $25,000 in compensatory damages for each cause of action in the complaint.

Dr. Ebraheim was convicted in June 2014 in the Toledo Municipal Court of vehicular manslaughter. During trial, it was proven that the doctor pulled out in front of the motorcyclist.
