24 year-old Jeffrey D. McWaine, Jr. was seriously injured this past Wednesday night after he was forced to quickly stop his motorcycle to avoid crashing into another vehicle on a road near Dover, Delaware.
According to Delaware State Police, the crash occurred on Webbs Lane just after 10 p.m. Authorities say that McWaine was riding his motorcycle when a white car made a left-hand turn directly in front of him.
Attempting to avoid the turning vehicle, McWaine slammed on his brakes and was ejected from his motorbike onto the pavement. The white vehicle, which has not yet been identified, continued on its journey without stopping.
Delaware State Police Master Cpl. Gary Fournier indicated that McWaine was wearing a helmet at the time of the biker crash. He was transported to the Kent General Hospital emergency room with serious personal injuries, though McWaine’s doctors believe that his injuries are not life-threatening.
McWaine was transferred to the Chistiana Hospital, where he is currently recovering from his injuries.
Police cited McWaine for driving while suspended, having no proof of insurance and having a fictitious or canceled registration. There is no word on whether police have found the driver of the white vehicle or if any charges will be filed against that driver.
