There are several safety precautions all motorcyclists should follow in order to make sure they remain safe: wearing a helmet, driving in good weather, and traveling at a reasonable speed, to name a few. While most motorcyclists do follow these rules, and thereby avoid accidents their whole lives, for some that is not always the case. Moreover, even a careful and responsible motorcyclist can be injured because of another person’s negligence. If this happens, it is important for a potential plaintiff to contact an experienced Massachusetts motorcycle accident attorney or personal injury attorney to help to begin recovering financially and emotionally from the accident.
A 28 year-old Hampton, Virginia man died a tragic death after he accidentally crashed his motorcycle into an oncoming car. Police and medics responded to the scene of the motorcycle accident, which took place at or near the intersection of Victoria Boulevard and Greenbriar Avenue. The motorcyclist, one Dontae Lamont Cooke, was then suffering from serious and substantial injuries at the scene. He was immediately taken to the hospital; but he nevertheless died soon thereafter.
A two-year-old girl was also injured. She was a passenger in the car involved in the crash, and was taken to the local hospital after the accident. Her injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. An investigation into the motor vehicle crash has revealed that a Dodge Charger was then traveling southbound; it was crossing the intersection at Greenbriar Avenue. At that time, it was hit by the motorcycle traveling eastbound on Victoria Boulevard. The motorcycle was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed.
