Although motorcycles have seemingly increased in popularity over the last decade or so, other drivers are often still not properly prepared to interact with motorcyclists and do not know how to allow a biker sufficient time and space to maneuver. Even the slightest bump for a motorcycle, due to a vehicle’s inability to see them, or simply scaring the biker into swerving, can lead to a serious motorcycle accident. If you’ve been hurt in a motorcycle accident, you should turn to an experienced Boston motorcycle accident attorney here at the Law Offices of Gilbert R. Hoy, Jr. and Affiliates to help guide you through this complicated litigation process.
A 23 year-old man died Wednesday afternoon after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck on the south side of Lansing, Michigan. The motor vehicle crash happened shortly before 1 p.m. on South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Northrup Street. The northbound and southbound lanes of MLK had to be closed for about two hours after the crash while an accident team completed its work.
A witness told police the motorcyclist was riding north in the left travel lane when he was hit by a compact pickup. The driver of the truck was trying to turn left from Northrup onto southbound MLK. The motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital but died from his injuries, Lansing Police Chief Mike Yankowski said. Police did not immediately release his name. The two people riding in the truck were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
